Plan a Farm Fence Route and Gate Layout

Choose the fence system around the animals and the way the property is used. Confirm the proposed line, measured length, corners and gates before comparing a total price.

Define the Animals and Daily Use

Describe the livestock, paddock arrangement, handling and equipment access. Review the system’s visibility, openings and maintenance needs with the fencing contractor and an appropriate animal-care adviser.

Confirm the Proposed Line

Agree what survey or boundary information the owner supplies. An old fence, online map or approximate sketch is not a confirmed property boundary. Discuss the actual route before posts or materials are ordered.

Measure More Than Straight Runs

List the measured run, corners, braces and gates. Identify clearing, old-fence removal, access restrictions and connections to existing fencing. A broad total-project range does not establish a price per foot.

Plan Gates Around the Approach

Measure the widest machinery and consider trailers, turning room and deliveries as well as the clear opening. Coordinate animal movement with vehicle routes so the gate layout supports everyday use.

Agree Pre-Work Responsibilities

Confirm applicable local requirements and utility-locate procedures before digging. Establish who handles property information, locates, removal, disposal and any work near existing services. The website form does not request utility marking.
